It's interesting that the double jeopardy rule Michael suggested was broken only once, wasn't it?

Yes, Davey. What I view as something of an equivalent to "double jeopardy" was broken once. And that was when they did the "Another Path" follow-up called "The Disciple." I think that was mainly done because David had some unfinished business involving Li Sung. Of course, David discovered that Li Sung was running low on time since he was about to pass away. And, of course, when Li Sung died, so did he possibility of McGee pestering him again.

Also did read somewhere that there were plans to bring his sister Helen back into the Series somewhere along the line, possibly during the aborted side of Series 5. You big fans out there probably know more about that than me, but I think that would be perfectly understandable if he'd taken the risk and gone back and seen his family again. smiley: smile

That's true. Ken Johnson mentions it in the interview that can be found on the season 5 DVD set.

As for CSI: Miami using revisiting villans. This is a fairly old ploy of the series, as CSI: Las Vegas, the original series from which the others are spin off's of, had one particular returning villan for at least two seasons.

I remember when they did that at least once during the first season of CSI: Miami. The season one finale titled "Body Count" involved a few killers escaping from prison, one of whom was previously featured in the episode "Broken," and all of whom were soon brought down again.

Also, a similar thing was done during the second season of the now-defunct Cold Case, which - like the CSI franchise - was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Although that series usually didn't revisit old villains, an exception was made during its second season, when John Billingsley (of Star Trek: Enterprise) played a serial killer in the episode "Mind Hunters." That episode ended with Billingsley's character walking away scot-free because there was too little evidence to arrest him. However, to no one's surprise, he came back a few months later in the season two finale, "The Woods", which effectively tied up the loose ends.
