It is indeed, Sam. There's no justification for this area's elevated fuel pricing and general cost of living either. Unless you count being the birthplace of James Dean and the site of the last recorded public lynching in America, the county's largest town Marion boasts no historic significance to generate tourism and local labor wages have barely budged since the 1980s while its political officials live like royalty.
And welcome back, Marty!

Thanks for the invite, Sam, but we're only 2 years away from paying-off our mortgage and recently wrangling a job within 5 miles from home is likely the best I can do to reduce fuel expense. Pump prices here right now are around $2.34 per gallon.

I'm always reminded how when two buddies and I planned an extended Florida excursion in the mid-'70s my dad warned us to prepare for higher priced gasoline, food, beer, my pals' cigarettes, pretty much everything. Just the opposite was true; as soon as we crossed the Southern border of our Indiana county we noticed lower prices instead. By the time we arrived in the Sunshine State we found popular-brand beer priced lower than soda.
Apparently Indiana residents rely upon a non-factual delusion of a lesser general cost of living to justify remaining in the land of little opportunity. Local gas prices are $2.77 per gallon on this Memorial Day weekend.

A friend told me the other day that his monitoring area gas prices online counters my claim that ours are higher than neighboring counties, but what the stations put on their signs backs me up. $2.98 per gallon here this past Friday. Have the Oil Barons grown so jealous of the public's hatred shifting to the insurance industry lately that they couldn't wait until Independence Day weekend to reclaim it for themselves?
This article neither supports or refutes my accusations of inflated prices specifically in our county but does describe sharper Indiana increases in general.

Just outside the north entrance to the Orlando International Airport, there are a couple of gas stations that have prices around $5/gallon, and they don't have the prices posted. After the tourist who need to return their rentals fill up, they are hit with a major shock price wise.

Actually, those stations were fined by The City of Orlando.
